The production of arc in a vacuum circuit breaker and its extinction can be explained as follows: • When the contacts of the breaker are opened in vacuum, an arc is produced between the contacts by the ionization of metal vapors of contacts. However, the arc is quickly extinguished because the metallic vapors, electrons and ions produced during arc rapidly condense on the surfaces of the circuit breaker contacts, resulting in quick recovery of dielectric strength. • The salient feature of vacuum as an arc quenching medium is that as soon as the arc is produced in vacuum, it is quickly extinguished due to the fast rate of recovery of dielectric strength in vacuum. Construction of Vacuum Circuit Breaker. Typical parts of vacuum circuit breaker are shown in the figure. • It consists of fixed contact, moving contact and arc shield mounted inside a vacuum chamber. • The movable member is connected to the control mechanism by stainless steel bellows. This enables the permanent sealing of the vacuum chamber so as to eliminate the possibility of leak. • A glass vessel or ceramic vessel is used as the outer insulating body. • The arc shield prevents the deterioration of the internal dielectric strength by preventing metallic vapors falling on the inside surface of the outer insulating cover.     Here is a short video showing how Falk Copper cookware is made in Belgium.Welcome to Falk Culinair.We are a third generation family owned business, specialising in the manufacture of hand-crafted copper cookware.Falk represents traditional values enhanced with modern technology.Every pan we offer is made from the stacks of bimetal you can see here.Our special bimetal plate comprises of a thick layer of copper and a very thin sheet of stainless steel. We specifically combine these two metals in these proportions to create the best performing cookware available. We first cut the long plates into to smaller squares and make round disks. Once that is done, we slide these disks under a hydraulic press.During the deep drawing process we forge the shape of the pot, determine the height of the pot and form a lip around the edge for easy pouring.Once we have forged the pot we trim any excess material to finish the shape of the vessel.Next is the finishing process, which involves a lot of handcrafting. We brush our cookware to apply a unique satinised effect which significantly reduces the maintenance. Finally we fix the handles. Every handle is fitted by hand with stainless steel rivets pinched under pressure. This is all done manually, to ensure the optimum fixing.Our customers can select either classical pots with traditional cast iron handles or for a more contemporary design we also now offer sleek stainless steel handles.
